  1. You and your contribution in learning Japanese is a blessing from heaven!
More power to Japanese Audio Lessons website!

  2. Hi Roger !
🙂 astonishing and very useful ! I just popped on your site, and really loved your comments and recommendations. I’ll try them and let you know as soon as possible if they work with me 🙂

  3. Just wanted wanted to thank you for your lessons. I’ve started commuting by car and they’ve been awesome. Your lessons drag out all the bits of Japanese that I’ve picked up over years but never use; such a great refresher!

  4. An astonishing work for which you are to be commended. I am a middle-aged learner with only commute time available for study, and I have found these lessons vastly superior to any other non-introductory audio formats or products available; they have been immensely helpful for my periodic trips to Japan.

These lessons are so rich and dense, my one suggestion is to separate them into shorter, more manageable works for repetitive listening of ~10 minute increments. In that way, a user might not feel “stuck” on Lesson 10 for over one month!

    Thank you very much.

    1. Hi Steve,

Thank you for your support and your constructive feedback.

I like your idea about shortening the lessons. It would be easy to do that. I know that some of the lessons are awfully long, and it can be discouraging to feel stuck on them for what seems like forever.

For the past eight months I’ve been working on a book, a Japanese Reader to teach reading and 608 essential kanji. It is mostly based on the transcript of the audio lessons, and students who are studying the audio lessons will be able to read material that they already know to some degree.

The book is nearly finished, and it looks like it will be about 530 pages long, including a “kanji catalogue” that teaches the 608 target kanji, and an index to nearly 1300 pronunciations that are associated with those kanji. I will announce it on this site when it is ready for purchase, so please check back from time to time.

After the book project is completed, I will consider acting on your suggestion.
